Project deliverables (12 months)

1. Gap and opportunity assessment

Some NGOs, private agencies, and trade associations have started down the “getting ready” path. The gap we see is that their work doesn’t address many Western issues, all of which have roots in climate change and water – including impacts on water management, public health, disadvantaged communities, cities and rural communities, the economy, and wilderness and biodiversity. We’re developing policies that benefit urban and rural stakeholders, developed areas and wild places, and free-flowing rivers.

2. An engaged, diverse stakeholder advisory group

Stakeholders and diverse expertise from all relevant challenges - i.e., Tribal land and water rights; sustainable energy and wilderness protection; rural regenerative ag and water management; public health and social justice.

3. Five to six policy briefs spotlight specific regulations, federal and state laws.

4. Handoff to relevant 501(c) (4) s and private entities to take the policy recommendations the next mile.

Note: For those who have been involved in what happens with a new Administration, you know that they usually have about a 100-day “honeymoon,” after which it’s back to politics as usual.
