Carpe Diem West

In the beginning …

We launched Carpe Diem West in 2007, working with a diverse group of western water and climate colleagues to start the conversation: What do we know? What can we do? How will we do it?

Over the next 15 years, we built a dynamic network of western water and climate leaders, along with a series of successful, innovative projects. In 2020, we decided it was time to take a step back to assess where we’ve been and, going forward, how to best add value to the field.

With many conversations and a lot of analysis under our collective belts, in 2021, we’re back as Confluence West. Our vision hasn’t changed - we believe there is a future with a clean, renewable western water supply because water leaders worked together to create it. Our strategic focus has shifted - we’ve gone back to our roots as a catalyst for innovative solutions - engaging in places where we can best leverage our expertise and connections. We’re working for time when water allocation matches human water needs and the needs of the environment, incorporating water justice and equity into the fabric of western water management.
